Museum AGM - April 2009.

The mayor opens the refurbished museum

'The Museum was officially re-opened by the Mayor, Councilor John  Harding, following its successful renovation and refurbishment on Thursday 16/4/2009. A special evening had been arranged to thank all those people who had volunteered their services during the refurbishment. We couldn't possibly single anyone out as everyone played such a massive part but just for fun three awards were handed out. Steve Swain ( Sgt. Saw) for dedication to flooring; Charlie Ormrod, Elec-Connect Ltd ('drill' Sgt) who only came in to move a socket and found himself virtually re-wiring the whole museum; Derek Antrobus ( Cpl. Caulkman) for unstinting dedication to gap filling! A great time was had by all and the Museum also launched it`s first annual newspaper, the Walmington Echo. This is now available either via the shop on this web site or in the Museum shop in full colour and for only £2 (all proceeds going to Museum funds of course). The newspaper is an excellent read and gives a round up of the years events since it opened in December 2007.'
