Opening Times


The museum will be open every Saturday from March 17th until November 24th

We open at 10am and close at 3pm, entry is free. Photography is limited in the museum.

We will also open on Tuesdays in Norfolk School Holidays (April 3rd, April
10th, May 29th & October 23rd) and Tuesdays in July, August & September.

Coach parties welcome by appointment.


There is no parking at the museum but they are several free car parks just yards from the museum.

The Marigold Tea rooms are usually open at the same time as the museum, last orders is 30 minutes before the museum closes. War time recipes cakes are on sale but subject to availability.

Dogs are permitted in the museum but not Marigolds Tea Rooms.

The Jones`s Van will be back on show from Easter Sunday 2019.

The statue of Captain Mainwaring is by the town bridge opposite the Bell Inn and in
front of the Light Cinema, IP24 2AZ.

Museum AGM 2018

The annual general meeting of the Friends Of The Museum will held on Saturday November 24th at the museum starting at 17:30. All members of the friends are welcome but please advise the museum if you are attending.

Dad's Army Museum Thetford

Since it opened in December 2007, the Dad's Army Museum has gone from strength to strength. Today thousands of visitors make their way to Thetford (Walmington-on-Sea) each year to see where the series was filmed and to learn more about one of the most enduring comedy programmes ever produced.
